Verdict
Maratha, who cost 90,000gns, is a half-brother to two winners and out of a winning miler. Simon Crisford's grey couldn't handle the long odds-on Mark Of Approval on his debut at Southwell but had the remainder back in another parish and will have come on a bundle for the experience. Stararchitecture was sent to Chelmsford for his debut in March and attracted some support but he completely missed the break and was never able to get seriously involved. Sporting Times is by Sir Percy so was always likely to find 7f too sharp on his debut at Leicester in September but he did very well to give supporters of the odds-on Elucidation a fright though the winner hasn't enhanced the form. This doesn't have the look of a strong maiden so a chance is taken with LONG SOCKS, from the in-form Alan King yard. He has a nice pedigree for the trip and won't need to be a world-beater to get involved.
