Verdict

This represents a good chance for Cape Clumbine to land a Listed race, and she shades the vote from Indian Maiden and Coconut Squeak. Fifth in last year's 1,000 Guineas, the selection then failed to build on that. However, having the size and scope to make a lovely four-year-old - and having proven on her racecourse debut that she likes soft going - she gets our vote today. Already a Listed winner, Coconut Squeak returned for the season with a good run behind Echelon at Lingfield. Grant her all due respect, while the course and distance winner Indian Maiden comes here in great heart following a Bath win and a good run at Lingfield - although on that form she has a neck to find with Coconut Squeak. Angus Newz looks held by Indian Maiden on recent form. It all adds up to a good race, with Cape Columbine getting the vote.
