    Verdict

Not a strong handicap, with the vote going to Cashel Mead ahead of maybe Special Gold and Whistler. Connections are keen to strike with the selection, a soft-ground winner at Bath three days ago, and a penalty might not be enough to stop this in-form mare. Whistler is still up to running a decent race at this type of level and, with the going not likely to be a problem, he could yet go well. Kings College Boy is always capable of going well at this level, even if he lacks consistency, but the visor is back on and the going will be no problem today. Finally, Special Gold's finest hour previously came here and it could be that he is now back to a fair mark. The last meeting left us headscratching with regard to the best of the draw, and the same might apply again but, in making a choice, we will nominate Cashel Mead as the selection.
