In depth
Verdict
A lowly, but competitive opener with DANEHILLDUNDANCE narrowly preferred to West End Lad and Fol Liam. Two runs back Danehillsundance won a better race than this, but then disappointed when attempting to follow that up. He's off a realistic mark these days, having gone almost two years without success, probably because he was carrying too much. West End Lad has made a habit of winning every other outing here, so sequentially he's due a victory. He'll appreciate fast ground, having struggled last time in testing conditions, and the yard are having a decent time of it in these sort of contests too. Fol Liam steps up in trip which looks a positive, seeing how he's been running on well in races without being able to get his nose in front since winning over six furlongs a year ago. It's his first outing on turf since May. Danehillsundance and West End Lad are the only course and distance winners in this moderate field, and we'll side with the former.
