The John Gosden-trained Umillo makes plenty of appeal here and is selected ahead of Trick Of Light and Foursquare Flyer in an ordinary maiden auction. The last named was a little disappointing at Chester when he was last seen out. But had previously shaped up encouragingly. The return to a more conventional track is expected to suit the son of Tagula and he can give the selection plenty to think about. Trick Of Light is an interesting newcomer that will be dangerous to ignore if there is support for her in the betting ring. However, it is noteworthy that Richard Hughes goes to Epsom to ride Sparkwell for the same owner, so it may be prudent to just take notes on this Dansili filly tonight. Especially when the recent record of John Gosden's string is taken into account. The Manton-based trainer is noted for his patience with his younger horses and it is usual for them to shown a great deal more with a run under their belts. Umillo fits into a typical profile and this stoutly-bred filly is expected to be a different proposition now that she is stepped up in trip.
