mid-division, ridden halfway, soon outpaced, switched right 1f out, stayed on final furlong
slowly into stride, held up in rear, hung left over 2f out, soon ridden, kept on inside final furlong, no chance with winner
dwelt, keen in touch, ridden over 1f out, soon one pace
prominent, led halfway, ran on final furlong, comfortable
close up, ridden halfway, weakened 2f out
tracked leaders, ridden to chase winner 2f out, one pace from over 1f out
held up, never dangerous
mid-division, ridden 2f out, no impression
A race that throws up plenty of questions as a few of these are frustrating types that may remain hard to win with whatever happens today. Olivander, Indian Edge and Kensington all fit that profile and are too hard to enthuse about confidently after finding a few too good in their previous starts. Whereas Mission Man's latest run looks suspect and may prove to be nothing special in the fullness of time. Therefore a chance is taken with Henry Candy's newcomer, Weir's Annie, who is certainly bred to make an impact at sprint distances considering the amount of winners that have been produced from her family. It also has to be significant that Candy has seen fit to keep Weir's Annie off the track until now and she could be the value call in a very tricky race to fathom. Mission Man is the obvious alternative but a number of Richard Hannon's 'good things' have been getting turned over of late and he does not appeal as one to be taking a short price about on this ground. Therefore the vote as the biggest threat reluctantly goes to Olivander if the indications are that Weir's Annie will need this.
