Verdict

Not a race that will take much winning and this appears a good opportunity for Cape Royal to open his account while of the remainder, St Austell looks the only serious threat. Lynda Ramsden's charge hails from the same family as Bishops Court and Astonished but was weak in the market before showing only modest form on his sole juvenile start over course and distance last summer. The son of Prince Sabo has clearly strengthened during the winter judged on a highly promising reappearance when finishing runner-up in a fair Pontefract maiden last month, having attempted to make all over six furlongs. The drop back to the minimum trip should suit and, with Kieren Fallon booked, he should prove hard to peg back. St Austell ran above expectations when a close third over this trip at Newbury last week and, although the form is only ordinary, Jamie Toller's charge is entitled to improve for both the experience and the outing. Eager Angel hinted at ability on the all-weather during the winter but faces a stiff task and will do better in handicaps later on.
