Economic caught the eye on his Doncaster bow and should go close in a race that will take little winning, with only his stablemate Majority Vote, Karlani and Callanish seen as potential dangers. Economic comes from a decent German family and is also related to useful miler Wall Street, so it will be a surprise if the boys in blue do not place him to good effect next year. In the meantime his education can continue with a first win today judged on a very promising Doncaster debut 12 days ago. Fourth to Shelhom, he had some equally promising rivals behind on Town Moor, and this extra furlong should be just what he needs. Stablemate Majority Vote is a half-brother to quite a few winners up to a mile and should pay his way in time, while Karlani is out to make up for a poor effort at Windsor where he dropped away tamely after losing his action. With Hayley Turner slugging it out with Saleem Golam for the apprentice title, she is sure to give every ounce on Callanish, but Michael Bell's filly, who was never going at any stage of her Newcastle debut, will have to improve dramatically to figure, and unless any of the others suddenly sprouts wings, Economic should take all the beating.
