Verdict

Captain Cool is in great form but may find DREAM SPINNER too good on this occasion, with Stadium Of Light and Molon Labe others to consider. John Dunlop has his string in decent order and that increases confidence in our selection, who has a 2lb turnaround in the weights to help him gain revenge on Captain Cool after he was second to that rival last time. We feel that Dream Spinner is the horse most likely to progress, especially if settling better, so he just gets the nod. Not that Captain Cool can be dismissed out of hand; Richard Hannon's charge has since taken a good third when dropped in trip at Salisbury and wasn't harshly punished for his course and distance win prior to that. His pedigree doesn't scream stayer but his win that day did and plenty will side with him to confirm the form under Pat Dobbs. Dr Finley is once again partnered by the inexperienced Ian Burns after the pair finished fourth in the race won here by Captain Cool. Michael Bell's three-year-old has been dropped a couple of pounds and remains unexposed but we'd prefer to see stronger handling, especially as at times he's been keen. For that reason he's taken on, with Stadium Of Light more interesting for each-way players. Hughie Morrison's charge ran well when upped to this trip last time and remains capable of better now racing over an appropriate distance. Molon Labe is unexposed and represents a yard going well so must be considered, especially as he shapes as though this trip should see him improve. That said he's asked to give weight away to some in-form types here and we much prefer the claims of one such horse, Dream Spinner.
