In depth

Verdict

After hitting the crossbar twice, Al Shahir bolted up in a maiden bumper at Newcastle when last seen. He should make a hurdler as should Dentley De Mee, who dead-heated in a Huntingdon bumper around this time last year and later ran in Listed company. But the experience of MARIA'S BENEFIT should stand her in good stead, even though she looked ready for a step up in trip when second on her hurdles bow at Worcester. She, too, was no slouch in bumpers but Darling Maltaix and Pointed And Sharp have some improving to do along with Rockpoint.
