Bertiebanoo overcame an absence from the track to land a beginners' chase at Market Rasen last month but Martin Pipe's gelding may bounce today and preference is for Totheroadyouvgone, who gets the vote over the hat-trick seeking Maidstone Monument. The last mentioned has more to do than when scoring at Fontwell and here over the extended 2m5f in his last two starts, especially having been raised 12lbs for the latest success. Peter Bowen's Swansea Bay has dropped to a fair mark but has given little sign of encouragement of late and of more interest may be Dead-Eyed Dick who, like the selection, won well last time but maybe has less cope for improvement. Jockey bookings suggest that Comanche War Paint is the better fancied of the trio of Paul Nicholls runners ahead of Montifault and French Executive. The Ian Williams-trained Lodestar has been given a break since disappointing at Perth in May and has claims on the pick of his form but preference is for Totheroadyouvgone. The selection could hardly have been more impressive than when landing a similar contest at Uttoxeter last month and on that evidence he looks worth a bet, even off today's higher mark.
