Verdict

NEW MANDATE was sent off favourite at Ascot on his recent debut though could only manage third. But he finished clear of the rest and Ralph Beckett’s charge gets another chance. Wild Lion represents last year’s winning connections having finished runner-up over 6f at Yarmouth behind a Roger Varian-trained winner and the latter introduces Giacommo, a half-brother to three winners. Soundslikethunder is related to a host of winners and Diamond And Gold cost 400,000gns but Dhahabi was purchased for a cool 3.1 million guineas as a half-brother to Golden Horn. The Godolphin colt already has a Group 2 entry and is obviously one to keep a close eye on.
