Verdict
The William Haggas-trained Algharb won at the third time of asking when landing a Ripon maiden earlier this month and faces a much stiffer task on his debut in a handicap today so preference is for another debutant in the grade Wrighty Almighty, who gets the vote over stablemates Dixieanna and Disguise. The last mentioned finally opened his account when landing a Redcar maiden last time but, having had six starts already the chances are that the handicapper has got his mark about right. Barry Hills other runner Dixieanna also won last time and seemed to handle the faster conditions better when doing so at Doncaster; she has to be respected along with Richard Hannon's Aastral Magic, who was not beaten far at Goodwood last time. David Loder's Captain Johnno has run well off similar marks before and is another worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Wrighty Almighty. Jeremy Noseda has his string in good for m at present and the son of Danehill Dancer made a tidy start to his career when making a winning debut at Doncaster. The 76-rated Diamond Katie was a head behind him that day and, with further improvement to come, the selection looks to be potentially well treated off a mark of 76 himself.
