Verdict

With some of the bigger stables represented here, this looks quite a hot contest. Of the newcomers La Scala, Time Ahead and Gold Bar are of obvious interest, while the best of those with experience include Felicity, and Time Ahead, with the letter getting the vote. From the same family as the top-class filly Time Charter, John Dunlop's filly turned in a solid effort here at the last meeting, when a fast finishing runner-up to the Keiren Fallon ridden Laidlow. She didn't have the best of runs that day and with this step up in trip a plus, as is the booking of Fallon, she is the one they all have to beat. Felicity belied her odds when third in a Listed race at Newbury and is worthy of plenty of respect. Henry Cecil is represented by both La Scala and Time Crystal. Richard Quinn prefers the former. She is a half-sister to mile winner Entail, but there is enough stamina on the dams side to expect her to prove at least as effective over this trip. Time Crystal is interesting as she is out of 1994 Yorkshire Oaks third State Crystal, who latter that year went on to fill the same position in the Group 1 Prix Vermeille. It could be that she will need further than this to show her best, but is certainly one to keep an eye on regarding the future, while Gold Bar is another to catch the eye on breeding as she is out of the high-class mare Sun Princess. She had the choice of three engagements today and could certainly have found an easier opening than this, however.
