In a wide-open start to proceedings, Mystery River gets a tentative vote over Street Life and Kavachi, with Ile Michel and Hazelnut just two more to consider. A 20-runner handicap is not the easiest race to start with, but Mystery River showed enough improved form when opening her account at Folkestone eight days ago to merit the vote. Granted she was given a fine tactical ride by Richard Hughes on that occasion and has more to do now, but if she can get into the lead early, may be able to hold on. Street Life will be suited by both the faster ground and drop back in trip today, and despite topweight, may pick up late enough to reach the frame at least, while Kavachi, also successful at Folkestone last time, did not find as much as his rider thought he had underneath him at the finish, and probably needs to find a few pounds. Ile Michel gained his first win in four years when gaining a comfortable victory at Lingfield and is another that needs to find extra, and Hazelnut returns from a break but could be involved for a place at least. The list is endless really, but the pin comes down on Mystery River.
