        In depth

        Verdict

        There are some interesting newcomers in this including two Sea The Stars colts, Astromachia and Raa Atoll, while Caliburn and Loveisili are both Derby entries. Kasbaan showed plenty of promise at Newbury in October and Bedouin's Story is another likely improver. Argentello only found a well-backed favourite too good over this trip at Doncaster last month when the first three pulled well clear but ELECTOR did well to win over 7f at Ascot in September considering his full sister, Diploma, won a Listed race over 1m2f. The Queen’s colt could be one to follow this year on that evidence and is also preferred to recent Lingfield scorer Nordic Lights.

        Argentello (IRE) 6-1 (9-5) Mid-division, headway over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, kept on to take 2nd place close home, 2nd of 10, 3/4l behind Proschema (9-5) at Doncaster 1m 2f mdn stks (5) sft in Mar.
