As usual, some well-bred and highly rated individuals line up here, with Mosharref the pick over stablemate Shangazi, Armada and Great Hawk. Mosharref hails from a stable in form, and catches the eye, both on breeding and for the fact that he is entered in both the Dante and Vodafone Derby. He has been working well at home and it will take a smart one to stop him making a winning bow. Sir Michael Stoute won this 12 months ago with Mordor and on recent home reports, hopes are high that Armada can give a good account. A 70,000gns purchase, he is not bred to stay any further than 10 furlongs and holds no fancy entries just yet, but looks the part on the gallops so a big run is anticipated. At 400,00gns, stablemate Great Hawk was much more costly and will excel over a longer trip in time. Mick Kinane gets the leg up and he should also give a good account of himself too. The selection's stablemate Shangazi runs here in preference to a fillies' only affair at Newbury on Friday, and with Aeroplane sluicing up on Tuesday, it would be wrong to dismiss Peter Chappel-Hyam's Marajel out of hand as well. In a race that could turn out to be very informative, the vote goes to Mosharref.
