STIMULATION has each-way claims in the opener and is selected ahead of Major Cadeaux, Laa Rayb and Cat Junior amongst others. Hughie Morrison's colt has only twice finished out of the frame in nine starts and those runs came in the Guineas and the Jersey Stakes where he was only half a length back in fourth. He was given a break in the summer before returning to action in a Turkish Group 2 in September where he ran a fine third. His close second to Paco Boy in July reads well, this course and distance appears to suit ideally and he's unlikely to be far away. He has strong each-way claims rather than holding an outstanding chance but this race has a habit of throwing up shocks and few should be dismissed. Major Cadeaux is respected but his penalty is likely to prevent him claiming anything more than minor honours whilst Cat Junior has a little to prove at the trip having been campaigned at a mile and beyond since winning his debut over six. Conditions appear to be ideal for Laa Rayb and he could be hard to keep out of the picture providing that a busy season hasn't caught up with him. Il Warrd won well last time and may yet be able to cope with this step up in class whilst quick ground should enable Summit Surge to leave the form of his latest run behind and they are two of several more that can be given a chance.
