Now 9lbs below a mark from which he went close at Sandown earlier in the season it could be the time to catch KARAKA JACK. Mark Johnston's colt has been kept to this mile trip ever since but struggled from higher marks. Now back on a sound surface and with first-time blinkers sharpening his focus we will chance him. Topweight Major Phil has some very solid form at this trip and despite being exposed can get competitive, and the same applies to Gaily Noble, though he seems to reserve his best for the Polytrack. West End Lad is plenty high enough in the weights but may show up well back at this distance and the same applies to July Course winner Seasonal Cross. Parvaaz is in cracking form but will still need to improve and Karaka Jack is a sporting suggestion. (Jonathan Doidge)
