In depth

Verdict

Snow Flower saw her winning run come to an end at Newcastle and life won't be easy for her now that the handicapper has raised her to a mark of 94. Gold City probably needed a reappearance run last time and were he able to reproduce his juvenile efforts he will be a threat to all. AMADEUS WOLFE TONE justified strong market confidence at Salisbury and he makes most appeal here. The gelding is no stranger to Newmarket having already placed twice on the July course. Mr Red Clubs hails from an unfashionable yard though he enters calculations on the basis of a solid fifth in Listed company. Galician was arguably unlucky to come up against a progressive rival at Ascot's Shergar Cup meeting and Mark Johnston's filly looks capable of further improvement. Having crept in at the very bottom of the handicap, any confidence about hat-trick seeking Saloomy should be noted.
