We will take a chance with Kool Ovation here, who gets the vote ahead of Island Swing, Piper Lily and Mulberry Lad. It would not be the biggest surprise to us to see Kool Ovation go well as bits of his maiden form read well, he is lightly raced and Jamie Spencer is an interesting jockey booking. Piper Lily is improving and her Sandown run last time suggests she has to be given a lot of thought here. Island Swing also showed improvement last time, but that was over six furlongs at Goodwood and it will be interesting to see how she fares at five. The handicapper might have taken care of Ashes for now in terms of winning, while Orpen Wide would hold claims on his best all-weather form. The drop to five furlongs could help the cause of Mulberry Lad tonight, while many of the others have seemed best on the all-weather so far or are coming here from hard-to-assess maiden form. All in all, it spins us back to the selection, which is Kool Ovation.
