Not surprisingly there are plenty of the 17 runners declared for this handicap that can be given a solid chance including the consistent Bonnie Charlie and Mark Johnston's Thebes, who ran better here when returned to seven furlongs earlier this month, but marginal preference is for ZOMERLUST. John Quinn's gelding has been in good from of late with recent wins at York and Ayr to his name and he may be worth siding with to resume winning ways here off the same mark as when a close fourth at Ayr last month. Hugh Morrison's Felday is less exposed than most of these after just nine starts but a 6lb penalty for his win at York last month makes this tougher and of more interest may be Giganticus, who was not disgraced in an even more competitive handicap at Ascot last time. Jeremy Noseda's Without Prejudice seems to be in the grip of the handicapper at present and of more interest may be Peter Chapple-Hyam's Shallal, who should do better on the ground today having struggled under testing conditions in his last two starts. Richard Fahey's runners have been in good form most of the season so Mister Hardy cannot be discounted. Richard Hannon's Bonnie Charlie has shown a decent level of form and has to be considered but preference is for the in-form Zomerlust.
