Kerchak ran better when a close third behind Side Glance in a Newmarket maiden last month and he has to be respected following that effort but the William Jarvis-trained colt may have to settle for a place at best again behind SAN JEMENIANO, who gets the verdict with Progress rated the pick of the remainder. The selection looks the pick of Peter Chapple-Hyam's two runners ahead of En Fuego, although Alan Munro rides the latter, but decent placed efforts in maidens at Newmarket and Wolverhampton make the son of Bertolini the one to beat. Marcus Tregoning has his string in good form but his runner, Maashooq, would need to improve markedly on the form shown first time up at Kempton to trouble the judge. A market move for the newcomer, House Point, would be of interest but more solid claims may be held by another making their first start in public, Progress. Jeremy Noseda's daughter of Green Desert is well bred and represents a yard that does well with their two-year-olds first time out. San Jemeniano is the clear form pick of the runners though and he looks worth one more chance.
