        Verdict

        Trenches was sent to race on Newcastle's Tapeta for his debut and though not quite able to hold the more experienced Marbooh it was a very promising run. SONG OF NAMIBIA looked like making a successful debut over a mile at Haydock but just tired in the closing stages. He'll have come on markedly for the run and today's shorter trip looks ideal. In The City hasn't run for almost a year but looks the type to do well in the latter half of this campaign and is worth noting in the market. His stable also run the newcomer Manshood, a 380,000gns yearling and related to three winners up to this trip, along with Ramblow, who wasn't suited by the heavy ground at Redcar in April.
