Sweet Indulgence can gain some compensation for a series of near misses and is selected ahead of Rawdon and Flight Of Esteem, while Trance has bits and pieces of form that give him each-way claims. However, like a few of the rest, Trance has been running as if the handicapper is in charge of late he needs to pull something out of the fire in this company. Flight Of Esteem dropped a significant hint that he is on the way back when he went close at Pontefract 10 days ago. He did himself no favours by playing up before the start on that occasion, so it may be best to ascertain what the on-course market says about his mood before diving in with him. Rawdon is lightly raced and is much better than he showed last time. Any rain will help his cause and it will be no surprise to see a more accomplished effort from him. However, preference goes to Sweet Indulgence, who rates as good value in this company. A mile and a half almost brought the best out of him here a fortnight ago and, with that experience under his belt, he is fancied to deliver on his promises this afternoon.
