In depth

Verdict

Although Saxon Saint is on a roll at present, he will struggle to confirm his superiority over Brunelleschi, who is selected to come out on top on these terms. Shermeen and Alugat are others that are respected and should be noted for future reference. Shermeen has been highly tried but dropped short of the mark in races like the Queen Mary. This is more her level but she still has something to prove on what she has shown so far. Saxon Saint has benefited from a couple of canny rides from Hayley Turner in his last two starts. However, he is creeping up the weights and needs to have a little more up his sleeve on the revised terms. Especially if Brunelleschi can stay out of trouble this time. The son of Bertolini was badly hampered at a crucial stage when finishing a couple of lengths adrift of Saxon Saint at Sandown last month. And, as he had previously looked progressive, he can be forgiven that run. Sam Hitchcott is back in the saddle and a bold bid is expected when the partnership bid to put the record straight this afternoon.
