A wide-open start to proceedings can see Smart Enough repel a whole host of challengers, headed by the likes of Along The Nile, Bolodenka and Plum Pudding, with Sew 'n' so Character also worth a mention. Last year's winner Kamanda Laugh came out of stall 19, and once again the outcome may be decided by what transpires on the far rail, with our vote going to Smart Enough. The Magnusson inmate lines up on the back of a sterling effort in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot where he was a very creditable fourth to Sir Gerard, and prior to that he was successful at Goodwood, albeit on soft ground. With just three outings under his belt so far this term, there is more improvement to come, and he should run a big race. Along The Nile felt the benefit of a first-time tongue tie when bouncing back to form at Newcastle recently, with Everest behind in third. He will be popular with Jamie Spencer on board and is one of many dangers. Bolodenka caught the eye on his return to action at Newcastle when second to Flipando, and although the latter has let the form down since, Richard Fahey's course-and-distance winner will come on for the run and has to be respected despite his low draw. Plum Pudding ran better than his finishing position indicates behind the selection at Royal Ascot and had absolutely bolted up here the time before. This is two grades higher and he too is drawn low but has to merit a mention. Sew 'n' so Character may show up well on the far side, but will do well to give weight to Smart Enough who has plenty going for him in the opener.
