We loathe to oppose Soviet Song in what is turning into her very own race, however in Nannina we have an improving, gutsy filly and she gets the verdict on this occasion, Peeress and Rajeem also have the class to take a hand in the finish. From the first time we saw Nannina on her Pontefract debut she looked a bit special, coming from last to first with a blistering turn of foot. She ended that first season by beating subsequent Oaks winner Alexandrova in the Fillies Mile. She obviously needed the run in the 1000 Guineas, bouncing back to form with an emphatic success in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. She is expected to continue on the upward curve and looks the one to beat. Soviet Song is an obvious danger chasing her sixth Group one success, including of course her third victory in this contest. She returned to winning ways with a smooth victory at Royal Ascot and will no doubt get the largest cheer of the week if she can oblige this afternoon. It is far from a two horse race, Sir Michael Stoute's Peeress is in great heart this season having tasted Group one success at Newmarket in the Lockinge. She was then unlucky in running behind Ad Valorem in the Queen Anne and is given every respect today. Clive Brittain's Rajeem will no doubt go off at a big price but wasn't beaten too far behind the selection at Ascot and appears to be improving with each run. Nasheej has also shown plenty of class this campaign and adds even more interest. It is a terrific renewal and Nannina is taken to land the spoils.
