CARIOCA is suggested ahead of Pollenator and Battlemaiden although, of course, there are a number of well bred newcomers to consider and the market will, as ever, be useful. Pollenator shaped well on debut and was a little unlucky to bump into a fair sort at Folkestone next time but she may find better opportunities once qualified for nurseries. Battlemaiden represents a yard whose juveniles have tended to need their first outings this season so it's reasonable to expect improvement. She'll appreciate this longer trip but lacks any fancy entries. There may be more value to be had in siding with Carioca who shaped equally well but could be a bigger price by virtue of representing a smaller operation. She shaped well in what appeared to be a fair maiden and stayed on well once the penny dropped. Zahoo is a well bred filly with a Group 1 entry from a yard that has won this twice in the past ten years with Hibaayeb another whose pedigree ensures she merits attention. Copper Penny, Dubai Media and Katehari are three more to note but, in truth, none should be ruled out at this stage in an opener where Carioca gets the nod.
