In depth

Verdict

Just six runners for this weak maiden and it may rest between Whistle Blowing and Conscript, with the former just getting the nod. Michael Bell's gelding showed plenty of promise on his Haydock debut, finishing just over six lengths behind the Richard Hannon trained Aviation. He wasn't given a hard time once his chance had gone and so there should be plenty of improvement to come. Conscript has shown a good level of form in handicaps off marks in the seventies and chased home the much touted Echo Of Light in a Yarmouth maiden last time. There is no doubt he is the obvious form choice and has to be respected. Sterling Supporter looks the pick of the remainder, but Whistle Blowing has more scope for improvement than the rest of these and just gets the verdict over Conscript.
