In depth

Verdict

Celtic Mill, River Falcon and Caribbean Coral are the trio to focus on here, although this is a wide open renewal of this highly prized sprint, with Celtic Mill taken to come out on top. A winner at Chester already this season, Caribbean Coral finished fast to take third in the Vodafone Dash at Epsom on Derby day. That was a good effort, and if the ground continues to dry out he can go well. River Falcon's winless run stretches back over two years, but he is a consistent type, albeit paying for that solid form by going up the handicap. He handles these conditions well, and this is his first run of the season where the ground has not been fast, so an improved effort would not be a surprise. He too can go close. Celtic Mill's last success came in a Listed race at York in September, but he has turned in some solid efforts in defeat this season, in tough contests. He too has ground to suit, and this son of Celtic Swing has a low draw, which should be best. Celtic Mill can defy top weight to take this prestigious affair.
