Gollinger can land a very moderate opener at the expense of Champagne Rossini and Perfect Punch. At least the meeting goes ahead after passing an inspection earlier this week, but that will not encourage punters to rush here for the first, a class 4 selling hurdle, which may well go to the old-timer Gollinger. John Wainwright's charge has actually been in fair form of late, with a win and two seconds to his name in similar company to today's. He faced an impossible task at the weights here last time when runner-up to Mighty Fine, and a repeat of that form should be good enough. Champagne Rossini looks the main danger, but the fact that he has gone 40 career starts without scoring says it all, and of the remainder, Perfect Punch is distinctly moderate but has a couple of places to his name. Gollinger is the obvious pick.
