South Wind Rising gets a tentative vote over Peak Seasons and Investment Wings, with Riverweld and Just Beware two more to mention. This looks a pretty open affair, but South Wind Rising was fancied on his first start for Alison Thorpe at Newton Abbot ten-days ago, and was not disgraced at all in finishing second to Mr Tim. Granted, that was a selling contest and this is tougher, but he is still open to some improvement, and with Richard Johnson on board for the first time, is taken to open his account. Peak Seasons has shown signs of a return to some sort of form lately, and would be a popular win for local trainer Michael Chapman, but the ground is a big worry, while Investment Wings bids to defy a 7lb penalty for his admittedly comfortable success at Towcester recently. Riverweld, and Just Beware may go well at a price, but overall we prefer the claims of South Wind Rising who appears to be on the upgrade.
