Mister Maq ran better when a close fourth in a Beverley seller last time and he has to be respected in a race that does not look much better but it is hard to get away from FARNE ISLAND, who gets the verdict with Dichiper rated the best of the rest. The selection has been running well over hurdles, transferred that form back to the flat when a good second behind Safebreaker at Pontefract last week and a reproduction of that effort should suffice for the gelding who represents the in-form Micky Hammond yard. Tommy Tobougg returns to the level for Lucinda Russell, who also has her string in good form, but he has been well held in recent starts over hurdles so looks best watched, while Johnny Friendly has been well held in all three starts since the turn of the year and probably needs further help from the handicapper. Media Stars has every chance on the form shown when successful at Lingfield in a claimer in February but he disappointed last time and a bigger threat may come from Decipher. The seven-year-old made a pleasing reappearance at Newcastle earlier this month and he has to be respected but it is Farne Island that gets the vote.
