In depth

Verdict

Another open handicap in which Blackheath is taken to get the better of Hout Bay and Piccolo Prince. The selection has been knocking on the door in his last two starts and he has not been beaten far in both races. He ran with great credit from a poor draw last time at Thirsk behind No Grouse and at present he looks like one to stay on the right side of. Hout Bay has not won since last September but as a consequence he looks well treated but he is probably better over the minimum trip and for that reason he is opposed. Piccolo Prince won well last time when beating Viewforth at Hamilton, but he looks worth taking on tonight with ground conditions against him. Local Poet ran well over 7f at Doncaster last time so he is another to factor in for a place chance, but we will stick with Blackheath who looks the one to beat.
