In depth

Verdict

No speed merchants on show here but, Tomasino has solid enough claims to get the nod in contest like this. Donna's Double and Compton Eclaire can give the selection the most to think about. The last named has been hard to win with, though, and only she will know what frame of mind she is in before the off. Her previous course form with Donna's Double leaves her with a little to find and it may be down to Karen McLintock's charge to provide the sternest challenge. Now a ten-year-old, Donna's Double has held his form well in moderate races of late and would fully deserve to get his head in front if everything fell in to place for him today. However, Tomasino does hold a solid edge on the adjusted ratings for the race and, even though he may not be the most reliable of characters, he should take the beating in this company. Shingle Street hails from a yard in good from and is worth considering if there is opposition to Tomasino for any reason before the off.
