A tricky affair may go the way of Baby Barry, with Splodger Mac, Cryfield and Starcross Maid just three more with claims. Most of these have been around the block a few times, including the selection Baby Barry who is one of three course winners in the line-up. Richard Fahey's eight-year-old was successful here off a mark of 67 four years ago and although he has picked up only a further three wins since then, is on a lowly mark these days, and a reproduction of his third at Carlisle in a soft ground handicap back in June would be enough. Splodger Mac had no answer to the finish of Extra Cover in a selling handicap at Pontefract recently but should be thereabouts, while Cryfield did not have the best of draws when fourth in a better race than this at Beverley and is another for the short-list. Starcross Maid is still devoid of a visit to the winner's enclosure but will be prominent for most of the way no doubt without being good enough, and for the winner we return to Baby Barry.
