Piety has been going nicely at home and can make a winning debut at the expense of Laqataat, Amygdala and Astrobella. Another juvenile contest for fillies, and one in which the market may well prove the best guide of all, and in the hope that it speaks kindly in favour of Piety, Mark Johnston's debutante is selected. The daughter of Danehill cost 100,000gns, but failed to reach her asking price of 74,000gns as a foal, and that may be a blessing in disguise for the Highclere Thoroughbred syndicate as she looks to have a bright future on recent home evidence. She is a half-sister to Mughas and comes from the family of White Muzzle, so will be worth plenty if they can get some black type into her next year. John Dunlop's inmates always improve for a run or two so Laqataat should at least match what she showed at Redcar last time. The easier conditions will help, and like the selection, she too is well-bred. Amygdala needs to improve on what she showed at Lingfield last time, while Astrobella caught the eye after a tardy start at Yarmouth and is worth noting, but we shall take a chance with Piety.
