In depth

Verdict

David O'Meara does superbly with horses that have just joined the yard and the former Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained DICK BOS looks a ready-made winner. He progressed nicely last season ending with a smooth success in a Windsor maiden so he doesn't look overburdened with a mark of 80 for his handicap debut. Mel Brittain's horses are going well and Steel Stockholder looks a big threat under a penalty for last week's Catterick victory. Ready completed a Lingfield double over this trip in November and probably just needed his run over a mile at Kempton last month while the old-timer Docofthebay is perfectly capable of adding to his eight career victories if in the mood and he generally performs at a higher level.
