In depth

Verdict

Just the three runners are due to line up for this novices' chase and it will be a surprise if either Quarter Masters or Arctic Lagoon is good enough to beat Ryders Storm. The selection, a 96-rated horse at his best on the flat, was easily the best of these over hurdles and has done little wrong since put over the larger obstacles losing no caste in defeat in second place behind the likes of Multeen River, Le Duc and Thisthatandtother in his three outings over fences to date. This represents and altogether easier assignment for Tom George's gelding, who is expected to score with the minimum of fuss. For those wishing to go for the forecast, Quarter Masters from the in-form George Moore stable, makes slightly more appeal than Arctic Lagoon but in reality both are little better than plating class. Ryders Storm is a confident choice and impossible to oppose.
