Topweight Tyndarius had a hard race when winning at Uttoxeter last month and faces a much stiffer task off an 8lb higher mark here so looks readily opposable which we do with Red Gold, who gets the vote over Silent Snipe. Admittedly the selection is 3lbs wrong at the weights but the son of Sula Bula confirmed his current well-being when second to the well-handicapped Monbonami at Uttoxeter last month. A line through the winner there strictly gives Tyndarius the beating of Andrew Turnell's gelding but Jonjo O'Neill's horse ran too freely when attempting to follow up that success at the same venue on his next start and the form of that race may not be too reliable. Silent Snipe is also out of the handicap but has run well off similar marks recently and, in such a poor race, has to be respected. Richard Guest's Scarborough Fair has given little sign for encouragement, while Gortmore News has been well held in both starts this term. Shining Tyne has claims on his best form but was beaten a long way out on his return last month and may still need this so we stick with Red Gold, who appeals at the forecast odds.
