Aalsmeer sets a strong standard and he is taken to get off the mark at the fourth time of asking; most opposition is likely to come from Namecheck and Love Delta. The selection has been placed on each start to date, including in a Listed race at York on her second start behind the high-class Misheer. She has a rating of 93 and is likely to prove hard to beat if running up to near that level. She is proven on ground with some cut in, a comment that also applies to Love Delta. Mark Johnston's gelding ran a huge race on debut behind Stags Leap at Goodwood and he is rated better than his Beverley flop last time out. Meetings Man looks one for handicaps after this start, whilst the same probably applies to Cape Kimberley who makes his turf debut this afternoon. Fortunes Fire and Kellys Eye need watching in the betting; however the likeliest newcomer is Namecheck. Godolphin don't send too many to the track and this Shamardal colt is expected to run well if the market agrees; his dam was high-class but he will need to be smart to beat Aalsmeer who we nominate as the likeliest winner.
