Verdict

Disappointingly just the four runners line up for the opening novice stakes race but there is plenty of quality among the quartet with Art Scholar and Kalam Daleel having both been good value for their respective wins but it is DANNY'S CHOICE that looks the one to beat. Ralph Beckett's filly stepped up from her promising debut effort when justifying her odds to land a Nottingham maiden from Il Forno. Not disgraced in a Listed race at Deauville subsequently, the daughter of Compton Place sets the standard for the field. Mark Tompkins has his team in good form so Watch Chain has to be respected but the Southwell nursery winner faces no easy task today and a bigger threat is likely to come from Art Scholar. Gary Moore's colt could not have won with any more ease when making a winning debut in an auction maiden at Bath and he would not need to improve much from that effort to trouble the selection. Mick Channon's Kalam Daleel was a facile winner of his maiden at Bath but was found wanting in better company at Warwick last time and is likely to find at least one too good again here with Danny's Choice the one taken to win the race.
