Some well-bred fillies are set to come into opposition and several make the shortlist, including: Donna Giovana, Quantum and Proper Lady, who all have big sales races as their targets later in the season. However, a chance is taken with Brian Meehan's newcomer Sleeping Storm, who, like many of her stable's youngsters, has reportedly taken a while to come to hand, but has an eye-catching enough pedigree to be expected to go close now that her handler is happy that she is ready to race. The daughter of Danehill Dancer is related to several high-class performers, including: Feet So Fast and Soar, who were both multiple winners during their juvenile campaigns. The Meehan runners have now turned the corner and, at the likely odds, Sleeping Storm represents good value in a race where solid evidence is thin on the ground. Proper Lady also hails from a yard that should not be underestimated with their youngsters. She is well positioned in the stalls and it will be interesting to see how she fares. Donna Giovana has the benefit of experience on her side and is learning with every run. However, she is already exposed and others have more scope. The John Gosden-trained Quantum is an expensive purchase that will be expected to pay her way before to long. However, it has never been Gosden's policy to rush with his fillies and she may be better for the run. Therefore, we turn to Sleeping Storm for a small stakes play in a contest that looks sure to produce it's share of winners in the future.
