In a wide-open handicap, Presto Shinko is selected over Currency, Kostar and Kodiac. There are so many in with chances here that it is difficult to be 100 per cent confident, but Presto Shinko is a tough sort who will be in there battling at the finish, that is for sure. Richard Hannon's charge is a six-furlong specialist who has hardly run a bad race all season, and in fact he has only been denied narrowly on each of his last two starts, behind Eisteddfod at Windsor and Fantasy Believer at Epsom. He will go close again, as should Currency, winner of his last two outings. Kostar is a progressive sort judged on his Haydock victory, and as he is highly unlikely to get into the Stewards' Cup, you can be sure that Clive Cox will have him primed and ready today at least. The decision to drop Kodiac back to sprint trips proved a smart move when he won well at Newmarket last month, but a slow start cost him any chance of a follow-up at Pontefract next time. That run is best forgiven, and he too has claims, along with The Crooked Ring and Bonus, but Presto Shinko sets the standard in an otherwise tricky affair, and is the pick.
