With the majority of the Godolphin runners improving from first to second outings, it is the debut winner AMEER who is taken to follow up primarily at the expense of Private Story although newcomers Lunar Victory and Tahseen could easily be flies in the ointment. The selection was unfancied on his debut at Newmarket but he got the hang of things late on to get up and defy Awesome Act. That maiden looks fairly strong and this well-bred German colt is fancied to improve once again. His dam was a six furlong winner at two but there is plenty of stamina in the family and he shaped as if this extra furlong would suit. Private Story also steps up in trip today. Richard Hannon has a fine crop of juveniles and this Sandown winner is related to plenty of winners across the Atlantic. Shaayeq got off the mark at Epsom last time out and is a proven stayer; he is fitted with a visor for the first time and his trainer has a solid record when applying headgear. Stablemate Tahseen is ridden by the owner's retained second jockey so that may point to a good run. This son of Haafhd is bred to be effective over longer distances next season (dam a 14 furlong winner) but the market should help guide to his chance today. Starwatch's second to Lucky General at Windsor reads well but he has a big step up in trip to contend with at this stage of his career, Loyaliste cost 210,000 Euros and looks a player, whilst Lunar Victory comes with a $350,000 price tag and whilst his future is likely to lie over in America as his pedigree suggests, his trainer can certainly ready a newcomer. A fascinating race, where narrow preference is for Ameer.
