Verdict

SURYA started joint favourite for the Wood Ditton at Newmarket last month but dropped away inside the final furlong. By Frankel out of dual Oaks winner Sariska, he still holds an entry in the Derby and the step up in distance should see a much-improved performance. Al Muffrih came up against a couple of useful types over 1m at Newmarket in October. The first three pulled well clear and William Haggas’ colt should win races this term. Astrologist was only beaten a neck at Nottingham on his final start last year and holds Gendarme on that run. Cassini, a stablemate of the selection, has had a wind operation since a couple of placed efforts at Sandown in his first season and he makes more appeal than Coolongolook, who will probably do better in handicaps. Harawi has a nice pedigree and changed hands for €200,000 as a yearling but may need the experience.
