Verdict

Desert Destiny ran well enough at Newmarket to command respect here, with Polar Way and Orcadian two principal dangers. Godolphin won the corresponding event last year with Meshaheer and in Desert Destiny, have the ammunition to repeat the feat. The son of Desert Prince was highly tried by David Loder last season and in two runs in the Godolphin silks has shown enough to suggest that he has lost none of his ability. He had to come from the back in the Group 3 Criterion Stakes at Newmarket and was only just denied by Arakan. On that form he must surely take all the beating here, and has most to fear from Polar Way. Amanda Perrett's runners were still not spot on when he disappointed on his seasonal reappearance in Group 1 company at Royal Ascot but the tide is starting to turn now and this course and distance winner can leave that running well behind. Of the rest, Orcadian makes most appeal, having stuck to his task well when headed at Kempton in May. For the winner we return to Desert Destiny who has benefited from the fitting of a tongue-tie and will have ground conditions in his favour as well.
