The two runs that EUSTON SQUARE have had this season could prove telling, and John Gosden's colt is selected to win division one of the maiden, in preference to Splendorinthegrass and Broad Cairn. The low draw may not be a negative here, but previous runnings of this race suggest that it won't produce a winner first time out, and there are several debutantes here. Third in his last two runs, one on the turf and one on the Polytrack, Euston Square is a half-brother to July Cup winner Continent, and he looks well capable at this sort of level, in what's his fourth outing. He's the most experienced, the only one with an official rating running off a mark of 86. Splendorinthegrass couldn't repay his owners who sponsored a Group 3 race here in October, but he did well to finish fifth after missing the break and shaped as if this sort of contest should be within his scope. He's twice been sold for big money, and connections will want a return. Broad Cairn was runner-up here in a similar race last summer in what's his only run to date; owned by The Queen, Her majesty will have a broad smile if he improves second time out. he's one of several here pencilled in for a run in another maiden at Nottingham next week. We think Euston Square won't be going there though, as we think he'll break his duck in this one.
