settled 3rd, closed to lead narrowly over 2f out, ran on well, shaken up to assert final 50 yards
in rear, driven and switched right 3f out, stayed on to take poor 3rd just inside final furlong, no chance
raced in 4th, driven along 4f out, never a factor
led for 1f, stayed tracking leader, led 3f out, narrowly headed over 2f out, stayed pressing winner until held final 50 yards
took keen hold and left after 1f, ridden and headed 3f out, soon beaten, lost poor 3rd just inside final furlong
Let The Lion Roar looks to hold solid claims here and gets the vote to make a winning return at the main expense of Top Seed and White Hawk. The selection made a winning debut as a two-year-old in a Newmarket maiden and lost no caste in defeat in better company in a conditions race here over a mile subsequently. The step up in trip should suit the son of Sadler's Wells, who should be tough to beat. The undefeated duo of Mac Regal and Manyana have more to do than when scoring on their debuts and of more interest may be David Loder's White Hawk, a dual winner last term, latterly on the all-weather at Wolverhampton. However, he probably wants more cut in the ground and a bigger threat to the selection is likely to come from Top Seed. Mick Channon's colt had plenty of racing as a juvenile but held his form well and has a pedigree loaded with stamina on the dam's side. He is not certain to get the trip though and we prefer to side with Let The Lion Roar for whom there are no such worries.
